Alteryx caught my attention when it dumped due to lackluster guidance and the resignation of their Chief Revenue Officer due to unspecified social media conduct. There have been numerous times in the past when AYX announced lackluster guidance and surprised the following quarter, so I’ve always taken their guidance, as I do all companies, with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, I still wasn’t ready to enter. I was expecting some market turmoil and as it turned out, I was correct. Now despite solid growth and repeated earnings beats AYX is trading $20 above their COVID low. Their 52 week high is $185.75. Their 52 week low is $75.17. Current trading price is $95.60. on February 9th AYX closed at $138.66. So, what’s changed? The company has grown considerably.
I fully expect more turmoil in this market. I even expect AYX to perhaps dip a little further. However, I believe the most recent sell off is overblown and at minimum primed for a solid starter position. This stock has always been overvalued in my opinion. It is still. But such value is derived from expected growth and I don’t expect that growth to let up significantly in the next couple of quarters. There is a higher than average chance that this company will rebound and find itself trading well above current value by next earnings report expected on 05May2021 after hours. Institutional investment is excellent, growth is good, float is moderate, debt is moderate, analysts price targets are well above current prices, and analysts’ ratings are mostly solid. There is insider selling, but I find this common for many companies during tax season. I’m going to hop in congruent with this trading strategy before big money regains their bearings and buys the price back up well beyond $100.
